#DIY: Benefits Of Green Tea Face Packs & Ways You Can Use Them For Different Skin Types

Am I the only one who eats uncontrollably and then has a cup of green tea ‘coz *fitness is my passion*? That this hot beverage will magically undo my unhealthy binge-eating by releasing toxins from my body? I’m pretty sure that you’re nodding your head in agreement.

Whenever we hear the term ‘green tea’, we automatically correlate it with being healthy and with fitness.

Green tea is made from Camellia Sinensis leaves and buds that do not undergo the oxidation process that’s used to make the black and oolong teas. Green tea originated in China and for thousands of years, it was (and still is) used for its immense medicinal green tea benefits on our body before it became a staple beverage.

For those of you who don’t know, green tea is not just for promoting weight loss or a healthy lifestyle, it also improves digestion, which is good for the heart and brain functioning. There are a plethora of other *beautiful* reasons why green tea should be a part of your daily routine. This wonderful ingredient can do wonders to your skin and all you need to do is make some easy face pack with green tea at home. These green tea face packs are great for every skin type, but especially for people with oily skin.

Benefits Of Green Tea Face Masks

Green tea is loaded with so many health-related and beauty benefits that by the end of this article, you might replace your chai with it!

Green tea is packed with antioxidants that help to fight against toxins released in our body. It is rich in vitamins E and C and also EGCG which our skin loves! It also has anti-aging properties that can help fight wrinkles, premature and other signs of aging. It also has antibacterial properties which makes it a hit among everyone who suffers from acne and other skin issues.

And we do get it, drinking green tea is not everyone’s cup of tea (see what I did there) but you can still enjoy green tea face pack benefits, right?

Now that we’ve caught you up to speed, let us tell you all about the benefits of applying a green tea face mask.

Protects Your Skin From Cancer

A study revealed that oral consumption or even the application of green tea can prevent UV-induced carcinogenesis (cancer formation) as the polyphenols present in green tea (Camellia sinensis) protects your skin from the harmful UV rays.
According to another detailed study in 2003, the polyphenols present in green tea can be used as pharmacological agents to prevent against solar UVB light-induced skin disorders in both animals and humans, which includes: melanoma skin cancer and nonmelanoma skin cancers.

It Prevents Skin Diseases

Green tea’s popular chemical compounds, known as polyphenols, are enriched with skin protective properties that help the skin protect you from harmful UV rays, as mentioned above. What does that mean?

UV rays are harmful and are responsible for many irritating skin issues such as wrinkles, pigmentation, fine lines and photoaging.

Reduces Inflammation

The green tea face pack is enriched with soothing properties that help calm down any form of inflammation, skin allergy and even red spots on the skin. It even aids against the formation of bacteria in our pores, thus helping acne to leave us for good.

If you are diabetic or have a tendency to break out after the consumption of sugary foods, have 2-3 cups every day and you’ll notice a visible change in your skin after a considerable time.

Just make yourself a nice hot cup of green tea to kick your body’s antioxidant levels up a notch!

Helps Control The Production Of Sebum

Where my oily skin peeps at? 🙌

If the oil secretion in your skin is enough to oil an engine, we have some good news. Green tea actually helps to control the excess production of sebum. EGCG lowers lipid levels, making it effective in controlling sebum secretion.

Helps With premature Aging

Firstly, let’s get this straight- consuming green tea will not make you any younger but it does help with premature aging too.

The antioxidants present in it help fight inflammation and slow down the aging of cells. This helps to reduce the development of wrinkles and the appearance of fine lines. With regular consumption, you’ll notice your skin looking radiant, brighter and you’ll never get enough of that new youthful glow!
