The 6 Most Powerful Indian Women In The World Are The Reason We Dream

The much-awaited annual Forbes list of powerful women is back, and we have a lot of amazing individuals who’ve made their way to bag a spot on the coveted list. Here are all the names of The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women, and we are so excited to see influential Indian women making a difference in the field of technology, healthcare, media and entertainment, among others! Setting a prime example for ambitious little girls and passionate young women in our country, these ladies are the perfect role models for all of us, through every step of the way, inspiring us to work harder towards our goals and dreams.

At rank #32 we have Chanda Kochhar, CEO of ICICI Bank, who was the first Indian woman to receive the Woodrow Wilson Award for Global Citizenship, and is one of the highest paid private bank CEOs in India! How’s that for a jackpot?

Rank #57 goes to Roshni Nadar Malhotra, who became the CEO of HCL Corporation when she was 27-years-old and is the head of the $7.5 billion enterprise that specialises in infosystem, healthcare, and technology.

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, the founder of the Biopharma firm – Biocon, holds rank #71, and is India’s richest self-made woman with a net worth of $2.3 billion! She also holds the 72nd rank on India’s 100 Richest People List of 2017.

Editorial Director and Chairperson for one of India’s media giants, HT Media, Shobhana Bhartia grabbed rank #92 on the list. Apart from HT Mumbai, Hindustan Times, and Mint, HT Media also operates four radio stations and multiple websites.

Like she hadn’t already won our hearts and conquered the world with her charm and compassion, our very own desi girl Priyanka Chopra has been featured at rank #97 on the list. From being a passionate advocate for children’s rights and a global UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, to giving us the most memorable Bollywood movies and climbing her success ladder to Hollywood, she definitely deserves every bit of the prestigious title!

After consistently ranking in Forbes list of the top 10 list of powerful women from 2006 to 2011 and once again in 2013, Indra Nooyi – CEO and Chairperson of PepsiCo, is back on rank #11 in 2017. Heading the second largest food and beverage industry in the world (based on net worth), Nooyi is working to cut sugar, fat, and salt from several Pepsi products by the year 2025 to promote healthier alternatives. Now, that’s what we call a fantastic strategic redirection!

At a time where issues of gender discrimination, violence, harassment and women rights are actively being discussed in the media, these empowered women and their achievements are exactly who we need to see, be inspired by, and encourage many others like them, to be the change we want to see in the world!

Who run the world? Of course, we do!
