4 Exercises You Should Be Doing If You Want Your Skin To Glow Brighter Than A Tubelight!

One of the best ways to stay fit and healthy is to make exercise a part of your lifestyle. Don’t do it for the ‘Gram, do it for your skin and your body. If you must know the benefits – regular exercise keeps your weight under control, reduces the risk of heart diseases, improves your mood, your quality of sleep and makes your skin super glowy and radiant. Speaking of skin, we instantly associate glowing skin with healthy skin. To get that glow, you’d probably have to eat food items that are rich in Vitamin E, Vitamin C, zinc and omega-3 fatty acids and also have to stick to a skincare routine. However, exercise does the job of improving your complexion and keeping your body active and healthy.

Exercises That You Can Do At Home For Glowing Skin

You just need to set aside 15 minutes every day from your busy schedule and practise this every day for the best skin EVER!

1. Handstand

Malaika Arora is one lady in Bollywood whose first love isn’t Arjun Kapoor, but yoga and fitness. That’s probably her secret to glowing and youthful skin. Yesterday, she graced all her followers on the ‘Gram with a picture of her doing a handstand. Doing a handstand requires upper body strength and strong arms and shoulders. How does it make your skin glow? Due to the opposing effects of gravity, a handstand causes blood to rush through the crown area and giving your skin an instant healthy flush of colour. Also, not just your skin, handstands also help to stimulate the hair follicles and that in turn, promotes hair growth.

Here’s how to do it

1. Place a yoga mat on the floor and sit in Vajrasana.

2. Bend forward and place your elbows on the floor and interlock your fingers.

3. Place your crown area in between your fingers.

4. Gently lift your legs up into mountain position and walk your feet up the mat.

5. Slowly lift your legs up and hold the position for 1-3 minutes. (use the support of a wall or ask someone to hold you for first few times until you do it right)

2. Facial Exercises

Facial exercises are a great way to tone and tighten your facial muscles and increase the blood circulation to your face. Practice these frequently and you will see all your skin woes disappear. Our in house fitness expert, Ekta Alreja, recently shot a video where she practises exercises to tone and lift her face. From all the cool stuff that she’s done using water, tongue in cheek, lifting her chin up, we love the spoon in mouth exercise. Here’s how she did it

1. Take the back end of the spoon and hold on to it using your lips.

2. Lift your chin up and smile without dropping the spoon.

3. Hold for 10 seconds and repeat for 3 more times.

If you’re feelin’ fancy, you could grab a facial roller and some facial oil and give yourself a quick facial massage after you do these exercises.

3. Skipping

It’s true what they say, a little bit of cardio really works wonders for your overall body. But if you aren’t able to commit to a full 60-minute sweat sesh, 10-15 minutes every day of skipping is enough to increase blood circulation and flush out toxins. The post glow on Sonakshi’s face is the reward and goal. Not just that, but skipping even tones your upper and lower body and improves the bone density. What’s cool is that you don’t have to go to a gym to do it! It can be done at home or at a nearby park.

4. Boxing

If you’re feeling a little stressed lately, you will notice that your skin reflects the same. A little bit of a high-intensity workout like boxing or Zumba ought to release all that stress and leave you in a better mood. Boxing is a great exercise to release stress and strengthen your core and arm muscles. You don’t need a bag or attend professional classes for boxing, you can practise air punches like Katrina Kaif. Our Wonderwoman is going for a jab (left hand) and cross (right hand) while maintaining that boxing stance. If dancing is more your thing, YouTube has thousands of Zumba sessions you can stream and practice. Care to try?

Fairly doable… But you know what they say right? Practise makes perfect!
