10 *Erotic* Terms From ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ & What They Mean!

We’ve told you about sex slangs, acronyms and when and how to use them. But when it comes to erotic terms, we bring to you 10 terms from none other than Fifty Shades Of Grey! If you are a fan of the book, then these terms will not just enlighten your knowledge about sex but about the book as well!

Go ahead, find out what all these words mean!

1. BDSM

When you talk about Fifty Shades Of Grey, you can’t not talk about BDSM. BDSM stands for bondage, discipline (or domination), sadism, and masochism (as a type of sexual practice). It is an erotic practice of role play in a relationship, where one partner plays the role of a dominant and the other plays the role of a submissive while they’re involved in sexual activities. While some people might look down upon the concept of BDSM, it is a personal choice that both partners agree upon and enjoy. The roles are often reversible and are done to seek maximum pleasure for both.

2. Fondling

Fondling is referred to a way of touching or stroking someone in a loving, erotic manner. Remember Anastasia going –  “…He places his hand on my naked behind, softly fondling me, stroking around and around with his flat palm.” (Pg 273, 274) Yup, now you know exactly what was happening!

3. Kinky

Kink or kinky sex is any kind of sex that is out of the norms of ‘normal’ or vanilla sex. It can involve BDSM, punishments, sex toys and so on.

4. Caning

Caning has been considered as a punishment for a long time now. In several schools, when the teachers had to punish a student, they would hit them with a cane. In Fifty Shades Of Grey, however, and BDSM, in general, caning is actually a form of turning on your partner by repeatedly striking them with a cane. Punishment or love? It’s only the way you look at it!

5. Vanilla sex

Vanilla sex or conventional sex is the kind of sex that doesn’t involve any kink. It’s a straightforward act of intimacy minus the use of toys or any kind of BDSM act.

6. Cunnilingus

Cunnilingus is another way of referring to the act of performing oral sex on a woman.

7. Fellatio

Fellatio, on the other hand, is an act of orally stimulating a man by going down on him. In today’s world, fellatio is a more refined term for a blowjob.

8. Cat o’ nine tails

Cat o’ nine tails is a multi-tailed whip used during kinky sex. Though earlier it was used as a form of severe physical punishment in the Royal Navy and The Army of United Kingdom, now it is used in the bedroom for some light whipping/ spanking.

9. Soft limit

A soft limit is something the dominant and the submissive won’t do. However, this limit can be altered depending on your partner’s negotiation skills.

10. Hard limit

Hard limit is something that will absolutely not be done. In a BDSM relationship, violating the hard limit can actually be what brings it to an end!
