Need Hairstyles For Thick Hair? We’ve Got You Covered!

With thick hair comes thin patience. We understand what it’s like to have a head full of hair that doesn’t dance to your tunes. Having thick hair usually is very difficult to style and takes a lot of time. All that effort and maintenance has us constantly vying for somebody else’s hair but not anymore. These quick and easy hairstyles for thick hair will take your thick, unmanageable hair from damn to glam in minutes!

1. The Acorn Bun – The latest celebrity style everyone’s talking about

One of the best hairstyles for thick hair, this quick and easy half up, half down bun is sure to amp up your style and put you in the league of the Kardashian sisters, JLo, Hilary Duff and our very own Bollywood fashionista Alia Bhatt. This messy bun has been making headlines the world over. It’s super easy and will only take 5 minutes, plus it works great when you have greasy hair and don’t want to wash it.

Step 1: With a tail comb, gather the front half of your hair back. Make sure that you’re going upwards from the sides of your ears.

Step 2:  Pull all the hair high up onto your head and twist it into a knot or a messy bun. You can secure it with a rubberband or some bobby pins if you don’t want to make a knot!

Step 3: Go ahead and style the rest of your hair the way you want.

The key to this style is a messy bun, the messier the better!

2. Ballerina Bun – From office to cocktails

These go-to-office thick hairstyles for unruly thick hair (or even unwashed hair) make the best ballerina buns. It’s a very polished versatile look so don’t be afraid to have some fun with it. You can transform the look from day to night with a hairband, small hairpin or even some small hair clips. This simple hairstyle is great for any occasion and if you have thick hair; it is even easier to pull your hair up into a nice fluffy bun.

Step 1: Neatly brush all of your hair back with a boar bristle brush and secure the front by sliding on a thin headband.

Step 2: Tie all of your hair into a neat high ponytail and secure with a rubber band

Step 3: Twist and wrap up the lengths of your pony into a bun; secure with bobby pins. This could be a high bun, or a low bun. Choose the right one to suit your face.

Step 4: (optional) Use a tail comb to roughly puff up the hair at your crown. And if you want to skip the headband, try some fun hair clips around the bun.

3. Side Swept Braid – Wedding worthy hair

Yet another celeb favorite, this sexy side swept braid is sure to turn some heads. It’s an easy look to create; even if you don’t know how to braid your hair you can make it work with a loose plait. You can even leave all of your hair loose on one side by securing the look with some pins. This hairstyle looks great if you are attending a party or even a wedding. The best part is it looks best on thick, lush hair.

Step 1: Comb all of your hair onto any side of your choice.

Step 2: Using a tail comb, section out the top half of your hair and tease it. Clip up your bangs if you have any.

Step 3: Start braiding/plaiting your hair from the back of your head and move sideways until you reach the bottom. Secure this with clips. Once you have finished the braid/plait, use the tail comb and tug on sections to loosen it out.

If you just want all of your hair to hang loosely on one side, simply hold it in place with some bobby pins. If you get bored during the day, you could flip it over to the other side and you’ll have an entirely new look.

Step 4: Secure any flyways or hair that didn’t fit into the braid with some bobby pins and that’s it. You you’re ready to rock your very own Hollywood inspired hair!

To give this look a cool boho twist, put on a hairband.

Step 1: Create a side parting in line with the arch of your left eyebrow.

Step 2: Create two ponytails on either side. Leave out a tiny bit of hair on each side – we will use this to cover up the rubber bands.

Step 3: Start braiding each pony.

Step 4:  Gently tug at your braids to loosen them and wrap those loose strands around your hair tie to conceal it.

Step 5: Wrap the braids across your head in the front, over to the other side and secure them in place using bobby pins at the base and at the ends. Remember to tuck in any loose ends under the braid for a polished look.

6. Half Up Half Down – For lazy days

Make last night’s texture work for you with an easy, yet super cute hairstyle. This hairstyle perfectly shows off your lovely mane.

Step 1: Tease the hair on your crown and pull up half of your hair (above your ears) into a ponytail leaving a few face-framing pieces out. Secure with clear or hair-colored elastic.

Step 2: (OPTION 1) Using the strands you left loose, you could either twist them around for a boho look and pin them up into the pony or you could also use them to cover up the rubber band.

(OPTION 2) Take hold of the bottom part of the pony and with your finger, create a little hole above the elastic band and loop the pony through it. This will automatically hide the elastic band.

(OPTION 3) Take some pins or clips and cover up the ponytail.

Step 3: Style the rest of your hair as you would like. This hairstyle works well with all hair types – straight, wavy or curly!
