11 Curly Hair Hacks That Will Change Your Life!

If you have naturally curly hair, you’re probably used to your locks being the centre of plenty of awe and attention! At the same time you know how difficult it is to maintain your precious curls and sometimes you even ditch the entire process of combing it! Well, you don’t have to struggle with your unruly hair affair anymore because we have a list of life changing curly hair hacks to prevent your hair from all sorts of problems!

1. Condition the right way

Yes, there’s a technique for conditioning your curly hair. Start from the mid-lengths of your hair and squeeze the conditioner down to the ends. Then, run your fingers through your strands to detangle and help it all get absorbed. Rinse it off with cool water to seal the hair cuticles and lock in moisture.

2. Scrunch it

To define your curls and give them a more defined shape, cup the ends and push the curls upwards. Divide your hair into sections and then scrunch each section separately. You can also spray a half and half mixture of leave-in conditioner and water to give your curls life and softness.

3. Say goodbye to your hair brush

Ditch the hair brush and instead use your fingers or a wide-toothed comb to detangle your hair. Combing your hair with a brush will lead to breakage and ruin the shape of your pretty curls. The best time to detangle curly hair is just before a hair wash or when you have conditioner on. ‘Coz every girl with curly hair knows that brushing her hair when it’s dry just leads to a disastrous hair day.

4. Swap your towel with a tee

To achieve frizz free curls, dry your hair with the help of a cotton t-shirt and not a towel. Towels absorb quite a lot of moisture which cause a lot of frizziness. Using a t-shirt will also give your curls a much smoother texture.

5. Sleep with a top knot

It’s all about defining your curls. Twisting and turning in your bed while sleeping tends to crush the curls, which is definitely not a good look in the morning. To avoid this situation, tie your hair up in a loose top knot before going to bed. Also, a satin pillowcase will keep your gorgeous curls from becoming frizzy. You will no longer wake up with flat or frizzy curls!

6. The secret to perfect waves

One weapon every curly haired girl must have in her arsenal is a diffuser. This bowl-like contraption comes with a hair dryer, just attach it and switch it on after you’ve applied any anti-frizz product. Work in sections to cup your curls between the diffuser and your hands for a few seconds. Once you’ve done this with all your hair, give your strands a blast of cool air to add shine. Diffusing helps to give you super defined curls, minus the frizz.

7. Leave some conditioner in your hair

It’s okay to not completely wash off the conditioner from your hair. Your curls need extra moisture so that they don’t get frizzy after washing.

8. Pineapple it!

Yes, that’s a real thing! Tie your hair in a super high (but loose ponytail) before going to sleep and wake up with amazing curls in the morning. The way your curls look when piled on top of your head in a ponytail kinda looks like a pineapple, hence the name of this superb hack! If you have short hair, just divide it into sections and then tie each section up. In the morning just set your locks free and shake for gorgeous kinky curls.

9. No poo is the way to go

If you shampoo your hair regularly, we guess it’s time you ditch it. Opt for ‘co-washing’ as curly hair is drier than other hair types and shampoos rip off the moisture. You can mix one part apple cider vinegar in a mug of water and wash your hair with it. Apple cider vinegar helps in getting rid of the product buildup and gives your hair a super smooth texture while banishing frizz.

10. Twist it!

Divide your hair into sections after washing and twist these sections with your fingers when your hair is wet. This technique will seriously define your curls and won’t even take much of your time.

11. Fight dry ends…

Because it’s pretty tough for the natural oils in your hair and scalp to make their way down all those spirals, so the tips tend to get extremely dry. One easy hack you should do often to help moisturize ends is to nourish them by applying coconut/ almond oil. This will help keep frizz at bay and soften those ends.
