Dhadak's Shooting Was Stalled In Rajasthan & Here's What We Know

No matter how rife are the discussions of Nepotism in the Hindi film industry, we all still wait with bated breath whenever a star kid’s film is about to hit the big screens. And with the movie, Dhadak, it is even better because Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khatter and Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter Janhvi are been ushered into Bollywood by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, which leaves no stone unturned while launching star kids. Johar has been posting BTS pictures of the film which is slated for a July release next year.

Based on the acclaimed 2016 Marathi film, Sairat, it is written and being directed by Shashank Khaitan who has earlier made Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. However, Karan Johar‘s picture on Saturday morning came soon after a report that the locals protested the shoot of the film and an FIR was filed against the production unit’s head as a part of the Ambikeshwar Mahadev Temple was damaged during the shoot. Perhaps hence the caption, “…Shoot progressing rapidly.”

A localite told The Times Of India, “One of their vans hit the chhajja of the temple and it got damaged. We don’t have any problem with them shooting in Jaipur but they have no right to damage our historic temple. I submitted a police complaint against the film’s unit head for damaging the historic property at Amer Police Station.”

A source said the film’s shooting was stalled because of Khaitan’s ailing health, but  Narendra Kumar, SHO, Amer Police Station told TOI, “It was a non-cognizable offense. The matter has been resolved. Compensation has been given to the temple authorities by the concerned people.”

The film is just on its first schedule so we hope that whilst dealing with issues like caste and honour killings, it doesn’t meet a fate like Padmavati, whose sets were vandalized in Rajasthan and the film is still awaiting its release.
