If you’re a pooch-lover, we can bet that not being obsessed with dogs is already a relationship-deal breaker for you. Because for people who love dogs, their entire world revolves around taking care of their dog, volunteering for a shelter or even temporarily taking care of a friend’s furry buddy.
What if we told you that dogs have an important role to play when it comes to personal relationships? Well, according to a survey conducted by pet services company Rover, 60% of couples said that bringing up a dog together made their relationship stronger.
They say nothing kills a relationship faster than boredom, but with a furry friend in tow, you can be assured that you will never have a dull day.
According to the study, half of the participants said their doggos had helped them spend more quality time together. Of course, with a dog, trip together to the park, vet or pet-friendly resorts are inevitable.
And what comes with spending quality time together? Trust and teamwork! Around 88% of the respondents noted that bringing up a pupper made them a better team. A good 65% also said that it helped build trust in their relationship.
Okay, this is the part that made us tilt our heads from side to side in confusion (just like our dogs), 43% of the respondents said they found their partners sexier after taking care of a dog together. While we’re all about couples finding each other sexy, we must admit that using the words ‘sex’ and ‘dogs’ in the same sentence made us a little nauseous.
But wait, it gets better (or worse). Ironically, one in six couples said that their sex life went downhill after they got a pooch (this one makes sense). TBH, it’s not easy to get busy when you share your bed with a third (furry) party.
Whether you agree with the findings of the survey or not, let’s all agree that dogs make the best companions and all of us (whether coupled up or not) should take a furry friend home.
