This Couple Donated Their Shaadi Savings To COVID-19 Relief & Opted For A Small Wedding

From the loud sangeet functions, colourful haldi soirées to the wedding reception parties, Indian weddings are lavish in every way possible.

However, times have changed and the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we look at a lot of things. The wedding industry too lost its shine in the process. The global pandemic and the increase in the number of cases have forced people to forget the age-old ways and think of out-of-the-box ideas for their intimate wedding ceremonies.

Nonetheless, we’re digging this trend of small, unique weddings and the ideas that make a difference!

Talking about unique ideas, meet bride Diya Pal Dhami and her partner Yogesh Dhami, who won hearts for a heartwarming gesture. From a proposal by the river to a fuss-free small wedding in Nainital, the couple gave a new meaning to the term, ‘there’s beauty in simplicity.

However, that’s not why they became the talk of the town recently. The duo organised a small wedding and donated their shaadi budget to support COVID-19 relief funds. “The biggest joy for us was to share in our happiness with everyone and not have a fancy wedding. Our hearts are full of gratitude and we are forever grateful that our families and friends are keeping healthy and safe,” read the Instagram caption of the bride.

We in awe of the inspiring couple and hope that many more follow in their footsteps! Here’s hoping intimate weddings become a trend moving forward. Don’t know about you but we sure wouldn’t mind taking a break from the over-the-top weddings!
