Top Indian Fashion Designers Shut Down Factories Due To The Rising Coronavirus Scare

The global pandemic, Coronavirus has compelled the kings of Indian couture, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Malhotra, and Tarun Tahiliani to take a halt and shut down their services temporarily. With more Coronavirus cases being reported every day, everyone’s health, be it top-level employees or factory workers is at risk.

Manish Malhotra took to Instagram to announce that he took the obligatory steps to ensure the health of his employees and the operations are being discontinued from 20th March until further notice. His statement read, “At Manish Malhotra, we are doing everything we can, to restrict the spread of Covid-19 in the country. Understanding our priority to ensure the health of our employees, clients, and our nation, we are temporarily discontinuing our operations from 20th March, 5 pm onwards until further notice.”

Not far behind is couturier Tarun Tahiliani, who too reached out to his followers on Instagram to share the devastating news yesterday. His statement read as, “Having watched the exponential spread of the Covid-19 and the resultant human toll, we are thinking about the most obvious things to do: to look out for each other, prevent the further spread that may result in a lockdown, and most importantly look after the welfare of people in our respective eco-systems who may not be lucky enough to have safety nets.”

Just a few hours ago, Sabyasachi too, took to Instagram to share that he’s shutting down his factories and closing down his stores, starting today. He further added that all employees will be paid their salaries, regardless of their ability to work from home. He also appealed to his followers to #StayResponsible.

It’s heartwarming to see companies, organizations and stand-alone businesses valuing human life over everything else. Social distancing is the need of the hour and we hope that everyone can work together as a community and come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.

Stay home, stay safe.
