Curly hair has a notorious reputation of being one of the hardest to manage. However, contrary to popular belief, curly hair in my opinion is rather easy to style and maintain. You’ve just got to know the little curly hair tips!
Beautiful ringlets can be achieved without a bucket load of products and hair styling tools. Here are the simple steps that I follow as part of my regular hair care routine that will probably give you insight into how to manage and take care of curly hair.
#1: Know How To Detangle Well
I use a wide-tooth comb to detangle my hair before I oil or wash it. I twist my hair and start to comb it slowly from the bottom. I would not recommend combing your curly hair when it is wet, as it will break easily. Also, if you want to wear it curly, don’t comb it after you wash it. Use a good wide-toothed comb like Vega Large Shampoo Comb to make sure it detangles well without damaging your hair.
#2: Oil Your Hair Regularly
Hair oil would make my forehead breakout, so until very recently I never oiled my hair. I now use Cold-pressed Coconut Oil from Forest Essentials, which does not irritate my skin. If you face a similar problem, I recommend this – avoid the crown of your head when massaging the oil into your scalp. A cloth hair band also prevents the oil from trickling down to your forehead and is a simple fix-it if you have sensitive skin. I leave the oil in my hair for no more than 30 minutes. This is one of the best ways to take care of curly hair.

#4: Condition And Maintain
I wash and rinse my hair twice with each shampoo and follow it up with a good conditioner. I am using Kérastase Nutritive Oleo-Curl Intense to take care of curly hair for its hydrating properties, which I keep for five minutes and then wash off completely. A common mistake is to use shampoos and conditioners for permed hair. These products are suitable for chemically treated hair and not for naturally curly hair, so best to give them a miss.
