#BeautyBasics: The One Product That Needs To Be In Your On-The-Go Makeup Kit!

lip and cheek stain is basically that one product that should be in your handbag at all times. It lends a natural flush to your cheeks AND gives your lips a long lasting colour all at once. I am a big fan of tints also because I don’t necessarily need a base. I usually just use a tinted moisturiser and then pop on some tint on my cheeks and lips and call it a day. I’ve been using these for a while and I’ve realised that while the usage seems straightforward, there are a few do’s and don’ts involved.

So today for #beautybasics, I decided to break down the do’s and don’ts for lip and cheek stains

1. Stay away from tints if you have chapped lips.

Tints are usually very potent and drying. If you have cracked lips, the tint will penetrate them and end up looking shabby. If you do want to apply a lip tint, make sure you have exfoliated your lips a toothbrush or a scrub. Prep lips anyway before application.

2. Use a sponge or an applicator.

While most makeup tutorials suggest using fingers to blend in the product into your skin. But the thing is, tints have this intense colour and they dry quickly after, which gives you a patchy look. Use the applicator for your lips and your blending sponge for the face. You can use your fingertips to blend in the cheeks but be quick!

3. Add gloss or balm.

As I said lip stains are extremely drying, so add a layer of clear gloss or swipe on your favourite chapstick, but only once it dries.

4. It works best on a moisturised base.

Blending becomes easier when there is some moisture. Tints on the cheeks work best when you’re going for a glowy skin look.

5. Use it as an eyeshadow for a monotone look.

Just swipe some tint on the back of your hand and rub it a little. Use an eyeshadow brush and pick up the product off your hand and put it on your eyes. Lip, cheek and eyes = perfect monotone look!

6. Always start with little.

Stains are buildable, but if you put too much, it is supremely difficult to remove. So make sure you start with little and use more ONLY if you need.
