It happened! As we waited with bated breath for the first Monday in May, the official day for the Met Gala festivities, the gigantic fashion event finally took place and blew us all away. Inspired by Susan Sontag’s phenomenal essay named ‘Notes on Camp’ which was published in 1964, the theme for the Met Gala 2019 was all about artifice and exaggeration. Once celebrities, including Bollywood superstars Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, made way to the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, we were anything but disappointed. There were feathers and metallic touches, top-notch beauty looks and a lot of pink. But what caught our collective attention were the celebrities who dared to bare, and on the red carpet no less. Emily Ratajkowski

Leading the bevvy of naked looks on the Met Gala 2019 red carpet was Emily Ratajkowski who wore a Peter Dundas creation. The silver embellishments and the metallic finish in the risqué gown left little to the imagination, but the supermodel flaunted it like the goddess that she is. 

Lady Gaga

If there was an Oscar for the most awe-striking red carpet outing at the Met Gala, Lady Gaga would have taken it home, fair and square. The singer and actress wore a 4-in-1 Brandon Maxwell look that went from a puffy pink gown to sparkly lingerie, something only she could have pulled off. 

Kim Kardashian

For the Met Gala 2019 red carpet, Kim Kardashian went for a wet and wild look, quite literally. The see-through dress by Manfred Thierry Mugler came complete with pearl-drop hangings that resembled drops of water. Talk about attention to detail.

Kylie Jenner is no stranger to naked dresses and hair colour transformations. So when the youngest in the Kardashian-Jenner clan wore a mauve Versace gown that featured a plunging neckline and see-through detailing, it wasn’t much of a surprise. Thoughts on the feathered scarf?

In complete sync with her sibling was Kendall Jenner, who also wore Versace, albeit a fiery version. The supermodel’s naked gown was rounded off by maribou feathers at the hem, just like Kylie Jenner’s to give us the perfect sister act.

Jennifer Lopez’s traffic-stopping fashion look at the Met Gala 2019 red carpet hardly needed any validation, considering it was ah-mazing! The Hollywood star pulled all the stops in a beaded Versace dress that incorporated a thigh-high slit and a plunging neckline. Not to forget that headpiece. What’s not to love!
