#FlashbackFriday: How Sonam Kapoor’s Closet Remains A Head-Turner After A Decade Of Aisha

Remember Aisha? It’s been over a decade but the film, which released in 2010, is still a standout one, especially given the refreshing fashion and styling it presented at the time. A modern take based on Jane Austen’s Emma, the movie starred Sonam Kapoor in the protagonist’s role, a rich Delhi girl living a life filled with events, galas, festive settings, weddings, holidays and more. True to its plot, the film put to the forefront a fashion-forward wardrobe, comprising but not limited to couture labels such as Chanel, Dior, Christian Lacroix and more.

Sonam Kapoor’s Sartorial Style In Aisha

In this edition of #FlashbackFriday, we take a deep dive into the actress’s wardrobe in the film as seen in the varied settings it depicted. Continue reading for more.

High-End Fashion

Given the high-society gatherings and events, the costumes were bound to reflect the setting. The Bollywood film had the characters moving through art galleries and racecourses when not on a shopping spree and style by Pernia Qureshi, Sonam Kapoor’s wardrobe stayed in sync throughout. Fascinators, berets, accessories such as the unmissable Lady Dior bag and outfits featuring in-vogue trends made an appearance. Think ruffles, tailored separates, off-the-shoulder details and much more. Scroll to take a look at some of them below.

Everyday Chic

The actress’s daily wear outfits too were nothing short of spectacular. From monochrome, pared-down dresses to versions fit for a formal wear look, Sonam Kapoor’s chic closet hardly strayed away. Interestingly, Aisha required more than 100 changes for Sonam’s wardrobe alone and given the film’s narrative in terms of fashion, we aren’t even slightly surprised!

Wedding & Festive Wardrobe

No mention of the Bollywood flick would be complete without highlighting its ceremonial wear. The Anamika Khanna lehenga with embellishment and lavender undertones spotted in the first few scenes, for instance, was a hit—a refreshing alternative to the usual colours for wedding-goers. Add to that Sonam Kapoor’s stunning Diwali outfit in the movie and the subtle yet striking kasavu drape worn in the final stills and you have on your hands a number of options to include in your closet.
