10 Hydrating Body Oils To Recharge Your Skin In Winter

Winter is my favourite time of the year. The season calls for hot chocolate, fluffy hoodies, faux fur boots and Christmas carols. The only bummer about winter is having to deal with dry skin. Let me tell you why this happens. You see, the skin loses moisture because of the lack of humidity in the air. Hence to prevent this from happening, you should moisturise your skin at least twice a day. As compared to body butters and creams, body oils are thick and highly concentrated. They lay on the top of your skin trapping moisture, keeping it soft and hydrated.

Post application, you’ll notice that your skin starts to look glossy and feel baby soft. In case you’re worried about the product making your skin too oily, let me tell you that its a myth. Most body oils are lightweight and instantly get absorbed into your skin.

FAQs

What are dry body oils?

The best time to use dry body oils is in the morning. It helps to quench your skin’s thirst. They’re in fact lighter than regular body oils and can be applied to dry hair too. Look out for oils that contain rosehip seed, sesame, grapeseed oil and sunflower.

Can Body Oil Be Applied To The Face?

You can, but don’t do so if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. It may irritate your skin and cause breakouts. It may even clog your pores. It’s best to stick to a moisturiser that is specifically designed to hydrate, moisturise and nourish your face.

Are Body Oils Good For Your Skin?

Yes, of course! They keep your skin moisturised, hydrated and nourished. For the chilly season, I would suggest that you stick to body oils as they will moisturise your skin to the fullest. After a shower, pour a coin-sized amount of product in your palm and spread it all over your hands, thighs, tummy and belly.

Can Body Oils Dry Your Skin Out?

No, they won’t. Also, body oils tend to dry quicker than lotions. Seconds after applying, the product gets absorbed into the skin. Don’t worry, it won’t stain your clothes or stick to your skin. They dry up pretty quickly.

What’s Better, Body Lotion Or Body Oil?

Both have different functions. Body lotions help to add moisture to the skin and body oils help to seal the moisture in the skin. Hence one should apply it every time they step out from the shower.

Now that you know EVERYTHING there is to know about using body oils, which of these products mentioned on the list are you tempted to buy first? I know you’re going to say all! Happy shoppin’!
