Now that the festive season is almost upon us and you have zeroed in on what to wear at the celebratory intimate gatherings, all there’s left to do is sit back and relax. Unless, of course, you are still on the fence about your look. Is it going to be something a tad bit contemporary or fully traditional? To make things easier, we looked to Bollywood for inspiration and found not one, but two celebratory outfits that are worth sealing the deal, courtesy Alia Bhatt and Tara Sutaria.

Who Wore It Better: Alia Bhatt & Tara Sutaria’s Festive-Worthy Picks

Working the sharara and palazzo along similar (not same) lines, the two actresses and their previous matching ensembles made a strong case for the similar Indian wear done two ways. Continue reading to see how they styled their festive-worthy picks that you can gain inspiration from for this season’s at-home get-togethers.

Alia Bhatt’s Traditional Sharara

While promoting her film Kalank, one of the actress’s pick was a black sharara with embroidered details on it. Sourced from Anita Dongre, the kurta featured heavy detailing while the sharara came with placement motifs scattered all over. Alia Bhatt teamed her traditional designer outfit with a tiny bindi and ornate jhumkas, a plain dupatta keeping the focus on the rest of the separates.

For those looking to style their outfits for the festivities in a slightly unconventional manner but with a striking appeal, Alia Bhatt’s knee-length kurta paired with a breezy sharara does the trick. Add accessories, read juttispotli bags and beauty essentials that are bound to further elevate your ensemble.

Tara Sutaria’s Contemporary Palazzo Set

Tara Sutaria’s outfit from Punit Balana’s ateliers too, was similar to Alia Bhatt’s but came with distinctive details—a sleeveless short kurta was teamed with wide palazzos, both incorporating embellished gold threadwork. The actress rounded up her black Indian wear with a matching dupatta, its border emblazoned with gold as well.

If you are someone who likes to add a hint of a new-age touch in their Indian wear outfits, Tara Sutaria’s kurta+palazzo set is ideal for the festive soirées. With add-ons and on-point makeup rounding up your attire, there is no stopping you from working a winning ceremonial look.

Whether you are picking something along the lines of Alia Bhatt’s traditional iteration of the kurta and sharara or the sleek version donned by Tara Sutaria, either is bound to make heads turn at the upcoming festivities. As for who wore it better, we will leave you to decide!
