All Hail The Queens: Priyanka, Deepika & Others Make A Majestic MET Gala Appearance!

Each year an army of the top celebrities turn up at the Met Gala red carpet in outfits that you won’t see on them otherwise! It’s like the Mean Girls Halloween night for celebs, but instead of dressing just risque, you can turn up in the most outlandish outfit with absolutely no judgement (ok, maybe some criticism). We are of course talking about the MET Ball, an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.

The MET Gala marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. A common theme is set for the guests attending the gala so that the formal dresses match the tone of the exhibit being celebrated that particular year. This year the MET called for the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme and boy has this been a good year. Focusing on the widespread influence of religion and holy garments on fashion, esteemed designers and top celebs turned up in artistic renditions of Catholic teachings, clothes and craft.

Brushing shoulders with Hollywood’s biggest names were our very own Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, who have been one of the biggest most global stars to come out of India. Priyanka showed up in a Ralph Lauren strapless velvet gown paired with an embellished gold chain mail covering from her head to mid-back.

Deepika Padukone opted for the traditional Catholic red as well with her Atelier Prabal Gurung gown. Not a fan, considering the costume opportunities the event has to offer.
