By now, we know almost everything there is about the much-coveted wedding of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja. We know that the wedding is a three-day event, with mehendi, wedding and a post-wedding party spread over May 7, 8 and 9. All the functions are being held in Mumbai, at various venues around the city. The bridal attire has been designed by Sonam’s favourite designer duo, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. The wedding guest list is all glitz and glam with the Bachchan family, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh and Swara Bhaskar attending the festivities. Basically, this is going to be the grandest celeb wedding of the year!
Now we all already know everything about Sonam but our knowledge about her fiancé is limited to what we see on his Instagram account. So, if you’re a Sonam fan and want to know everything about the man who stole her heart, here it is! Here’s are some interesting facts about Anand Ahuja, the man of the hour.
1. Anand belongs to Delhi and is the grandson of Harish Ahuja, the owner of India’s largest garment export house, Shahi Exports.
2. The export house has clients like GAP, Tommy Hilfiger and Abercombie among others.
3. The annual turnover of Shahi Exports is estimated to be a whopping Rs 3000 crores.
4. Anand did his schooling from American Embassy School. Post that, he persued his Post Graduation from Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
5. He worked with Amazon.com in Seattle, USA for a short while. He also interned with Deutsche Bank and a Macy’s Inc. store owned by his uncle, to learn the basics of retail business.
6. He is an entrepreneur, the owner of fashion label, Bhane.
7. He also owns the first Indian multi-brand sneaker boutique, VegNonVeg. The annual turnover of this company is an insane Rs 3000 crores approximately.
8. Anand is not just an amazing businessman, he also has an undying love for shoes, BMX bikes and basketball. In April 2017, GQ India listed him in a feature on ‘Sneakerheads of Instagram,’ given his immense love for shoes.
9. Anand, just like his ladylove Sonam also has a great taste in fashion. In fact, he is great friends with Pernia Qureshi, Sonam’s fashion stylist.
10. His family owns a property in one of the poshest localities in Delhi, the Lutyens Bungalow Zone. His grandfather, Harish Ahuja bought a bungalow on Prithviraj Road that cost him a whopping Rs 173 crore, in 2015. The area is also home to some of India’s other influential businessmen including Lakshmi Mittal, the Burmans who are the owners of Dabur, Naveen Jindal and Airtel’s Suneel Mittal, among others.

The Kapoor and Ahuja families, who had earlier not given any word about the wedding, came out with a joint statement on May 1, confirming the upcoming wedding. The statement read:
“The Kapoor & Ahuja families, take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam & Anand. The wedding will take place on the 8th of May in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family’s need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love, as we celebrate this special moment in our lives.”
