The classic ballet pump is back with the most dramatic makeover yet. The new trend that’s taking over Instagram, snugly covers the top of the foot and is aptly named the ‘glove shoe’. We’re happy to report that unlike other shoes the fashion world swears by, this trend is remarkably comfortable!

On the flip side, while fashion loyalists have a soft corner for these flat heels, real girls are less forgiving. They’ve been disregarded as the pumps that would be “picked out by our grandmas”, and are reminiscent of those “boring hospital slip-ons”. But the fact that these are sold out almost everywhere – only means that whether we hate them or love them, they’re here to stay.
The trick to wearing these glamorous shoes is by treating them as a more flattering older cousin of the ballet flat. They look best with boyish pieces such a boyfriend shirt, oversized sweater or cigarette pants. Avoid prints and stick to minimal accessories because your glove shoes would be making quite a statement just by themselves!
