Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal are definitely one of the most powerful couples in India. They first captured everyone’s attention with their extravagant wedding in 2018. And then in 2022, the couple surprised us all with the arrival of their twins, Krishna and Aadiya. But while they usually keep their personal lives private, we can’t help but swoon over their occasional dinner dates and outings. Jab They Met
We know Isha is the daughter of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani. Anand on the other hand also comes from an influential family. He’s the son of Ajay Piramal, the chairman of Piramal Group. Now reportedly, the Ambanis and the Piramals have known each other for more than four decades and are very close. So much so that Anand even reached out to Mukesh for advice when he was confused between consulting and banking as a career. In an interview, Anand once shared, “I asked him, whether I should get into consulting or banking? He told me, ‘Being a consultant is like watching cricket or commentating about cricket, while being an entrepreneur is like playing cricket. You can’t learn how to play cricket by commentating. If you want to do something, be an entrepreneur in the long term and start now’.” He continued, “I told him, ‘You should have told me that when I was 20, not at 25’.”
Since they were family friends, they used to hang out together a lot. Then over the years, their friendship blossomed into love and dating in 2016. Buzz has it that Isha and Anand are quite opposite to each other. While Isha is a bit outgoing, Anand, on the other hand, is shy and has a reserved personality.
The Dreamy Engagement
After dating for nearly two years, Anand finally went down on his knees and popped the question “Will you marry me” in May 2018. But guess what? The venue wasn’t something lavish or extravagant but a temple in Mahabaleshwar.
Then in Sept 2018, the couple exchanged rings in the presence of their friends and family. A lavish ceremony was held at the picturesque location of Lake Como in Italy, which was actually a three-day affair. Over 600 hundred guests were flown in for the bash and the decor was designed by Dolce & Gabbana. Further, the entertainment included mesmerising performances by singers Shaan and Pritam. Award-winning singer-songwriter John Legend was part of it too, who played his popular track All Of Me. Several Bollywood A-listers like Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, and Jahnvi Kapoor were present at the celebration too.
For the engagement ceremony, Isha wore a stunning heavily embellished nude gown. She paired it with matching headgear and earrings. Whereas, Anand kept it traditional with a green sherwani.
The Wedding Of The Decade
Following this, Anand and Isha tied the knot in December 2018. A pre-wedding celebration was hosted in Udaipur, Rajasthan. However, the final wedding ceremony took place at Isha’s maiden home in Mumbai, Antilia. Isha wore a gorgeous custom-made lehenga by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla that came at a whooping price tag of Rs 90 crores. And as it turns out, Isha and Anand’s wedding was one the most expensive Indian weddings worth 700 crores.
Then on Nov 19, 2022, Isha and Anand welcomed their twins, Aadiya Shakti Piramal and Krishna Piramal.
