This Proposal Day, we asked some women about how they were asked out, and trust us, the stories were heartwarming and things cute! Keep the tissues ready and read on!
1. “My ex lived 2 hours away from my place. So, even while being in the same city, it was kind of a long distance. But while we were in the talking/dating stage, there was a time when we were kind of tipping towards commitment. So one day, he called me at around 9:30 at night, asking where exactly my house was, saying that he was in the neighborhood. I, living with my parents, told him that I could not meet him at that time. So, he stood in front of my building, while on a call with me, and proposed to me from there. I shouted a big “yes” from my fourth floor while looking down at him.” -Anonymous
2. “I was friends with this person before getting into a relationship. He gave me a long hand-written letter, which was sweet and emotional. It was like this gesture on day one of the relationship. The person knew that I didn’t like anything over-the-top, and I would like something like a letter, so that made it kind of important.” -Manya Ailawadi
3. “I was friends with my now-husband for ten long years. We planned a vacation to a foreign country during the summertime. On our vacation’s fifth and last night, he asked me to go to the porch alone. When I did, I saw him, on one knee, with a big solitaire ring in his hand. I couldn’t help but cry – A LOT. 4. “Last year, my boyfriend proposed to me. It was a pre-marriage proposal, if that makes sense. Both of us knew we wanted to get married but I am an anxious person so he did not want to freak me out. So, he said that I will make you wear this ring today and I will hopefully upgrade it soon.” -Anonymous
5. “It was during the rainy season. I was at home when this guy told me that he was going for some work. Sometime later, he asked me to check if it was raining outside. I stepped onto my balcony and saw him down there with my favorite ice creams. We then went to the terrace and kissed for the first time.” -Nikita Panwar
6. “A few years back, he told me he loved me. We’d been talking for a few months. I knew I had something but wanted to take my time with it. It took me 15 days but abruptly I voiced it out loud one day on a video call. It wasn’t anything grand but it was everything. We talked the entire night. Around 5 am we realised that guess we were a couple. Well, we’ve been together ever since.” -SV
7. “I, with my then-friend, planned a movie marathon night. We were watching our favorite show – FRIENDS. It was the episode where Chandler proposed to Monica. As soon as Chandler went down on his knee, my friend did too. I first thought he was kidding but he wasn’t. I screamed yes. We are now married.” -Alisha Sahni
