Alia Bhatt ajrakh saree

Two Days & We’re Still Dreaming About Alia Bhatt In THAT Ajrakh Saree

Gangu Bai was a complete gift for cinema lovers because not only did the movie offer a lot with its overall excellence, but its promotions gave us the iconic ‘Alia Bhatt in a saree’ fashion moment. The woman was relentlessly stylish for those 2 months and while we thought there was no topping that, she proved all of us wrong. Well, typical!

Of course, her looks in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani were amazing too, but here, we are talking about her recent sartorial choice that has zero haters. We mean it, ZERO.

During a recent event, Alia Bhatt received the Honorary Entertainment Makers Award at The Joy Awards held in Riyadh. The actor also posted some pictures on her social media handle from the grand event. However, it was her attire that became the talk of the town as soon as her pictures were released.

For the event, she chose a rust, blue and golden-hued saree with a blue-colored cape. The actor styled the Ajrakh print saree with a gorgeous off-shoulder blouse. Her gorgeous saree is from the shelves of ace designer-duo, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Her contemporary yet traditional avatar was styled by celebrity stylist, Rhea Kapoor.

To finish her look, she half-tied her hair and wore chunky golden earrings.

In her acceptance speech, she spoke about how cinema means a lot to her and that she will be taking her love for the movies back with her.

“It’s truly an extraordinary night. I’m obsessed with movies, it’s all I know. I’ve said this before, I think when I was born, I came out on ‘lights, camera, action’. That’s how much cinema means to me. One of the things, if we are talking about joy, one of the greatest things in our lives is love. So tonight, when I go back home, I take back with me the love of the movies and the love that I felt here in Riyadh. So thank you so much, and here’s to the magic of movies.”

It’s heartwarming to see that the Ajrak print is garnering the recognition that it totally deserves. For the uninitiated, Ajrakh is a distinctive textile block-printing tradition predominantly popular in Sindh (Pakistan) and Ajrakhpur (Kutch, India). The Sindhi word is derived from the Persian words ‘ajar’ and ‘ak’, which means ‘brick’ and ‘little’. Serving as a symbol of Sindhi culture and traditions, Ajrak garments like sarees and shawls exhibit geometric precision achieved through woodblock printing. Interestingly, Sindhi individuals express hospitality by presenting Ajrak as a gesture of welcome to their guests.
