Indian celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Isha Ambani, are the talk of the town for attending the Met Gala 2024. Like every year, I was waiting to see this year’s Indian debut on the carpet, and it happened. But to my amusement, it wasn’t someone that I was already familiar with but a hidden gem, Mona Patel. She made her first public appearance at the gala and instantly sent a ripple through the fashion world.
For her debut on the coveted red carpet, she chose the renowned Dutch haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen. And let me tell you, everything about her Met Gala outfit was a work of art. The nude sculpted gown seamlessly blended her love for couture and elements from her heritage that she proudly showcased on a global platform.
Furthermore, I love how it was meticulously curated and reimagined aesthetics from nature. It featured a corset bodice that seemed inspired by a butterfly and fitted her like a glove. The other delicate detailing throughout her outfit combined with the kinetic butterflies on her opera gloves(by Casey Curran) went beyond my expectations. Styled by the legendary stylist Law Roach, the look was definitely awe-worthy and deserves all the recognition in the world.
Mona’s look was so jaw-dropping that it got everyone talking and broke the internet. It started a conversation about the lady who made the entire fashion world shiver. Naturally, I wanted to know too. Turns out, Mona is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, born in Vadodara, Gujarat, and moved to the US to pursue higher education.
After settling in the US, Mona started her entrepreneurial journey. She then went on to build a million-dollar empire along with a non-profit organisation named Couture For Cause through which Mona combines her love for couture with giving back to society.
Mona’s look definitely took the gala to a whole new level and I am all for it.
