Sometimes matches that seem to have been “made in heaven” just don’t work out. However, parting on an amicable note especially if kids are involved can be the couple’s best bet. After all, they can stop being spouses to each other but can’t stop being parents to their kids, right? Our B-Town celebs seem mature enough to embrace the new while still respecting the old. In fact, these five star kids attending their parents’ second weddings is a testament to the fact that no one does “modern family” better than Bollywood celebs. Take a look:
Ibrahim & Sarah Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s relationship was the talk of the town. But when the duo tied the knot in 2012, Saif’s kids from his first marriage to actress Amrita Singh–Sara and Ibrahim–also attended the intimate affair. In a chat show, Sarah also revealed how her father had written a heartfelt note to his mother before his wedding to bury the hatchet and start afresh.
Palak Tiwari
Television sensation Shweta Tiwari split with her first husband Raja Chaudhary in 2012 citing domestic violence as the reason. A year later, the starlet tied the knot with actor-businessman Abhinav Kohli and Palak stood by her mother just as strongly during the bad times as she did during the wedding celebrations.
Shakya & Akira Akhtar
Farhan Akhtar announced his separation from his first wife Adhuna Bhabani in 2017 and married actress Shibani Dandekar in 2022. While the videos of the groom dancing to Senorita with childhood buddy Hrithik Roshan went viral, the highlight of his wedding festivities was the presence of his daughters–Shakya and Akira–at the do.
Ira Khan
Aamir Khan, aka Mr. Perfectionist, married Reena Dutta in 1986 and the couple had two lovely children–Ira and Junaid. However, the couple parted ways in 2002 and the actor married director Kiran Rao in 2004. His daughter was very much a part of their wedding celebrations and stood with daddy dear with much love.
Masaba Gupta
Legendary actress Neena Gupta was in a relationship with star cricketer of the time, Vivian Richards. Fashion maverick Masaba Gupta has often times opened up about being born out of wedlock and how it affected her. But the woman of courage and well–immense talent–was also present during her mother’s wedding with Vivek Mehra in 2008 and is often spotted hanging out with the happy couple.
Even though, it’s easier said than done, we applaud these star kids for handling their parents’ separation so maturely and being there for them unconditionally. More power to them!
