The Good, The Bad & The Meh: Rating Celebrity Looks At The Filmfare Awards 2024

The 69th Filmfare Awards this year was a spectacular blend of style and cinema, setting new benchmarks in the industry. From starry gowns to modern, corseted sarees, here are the most captivating looks of the night – a showcase of Bollywood’s glamour in full swing!

Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan captivated in a sequined black gown with a sultry slit that gave the whole look an inimitable class. Her choice of makeup featured a bold kohl liner, nude pink lipstick and stark contour highlighting the sharpness of her cheekbones; she paired it with a sleek updo, and honestly, when your outfit sparkles as much as your charisma does, you’re probably doing something right. 8/10, 2 points deducted for those hideous earrings.

Jahnvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor’s black lace gown was mesmerizing – the detailed embroidery and silhouette gracefully highlighted her stature, paired with a pink lip and smoky eyes. The highlight of the look had to be her long tresses and the new balayage she revealed on the carpet – a 2024 hairstyle inspiration for sure! While her gown said timeless, that balayage whispered trendsetter – clearly, she’s playing in the big fashion leagues now. 10/10, for sure.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt’s pearl white Anamika Khanna ensemble was a fusion of modern design and traditional elegance. The corset-saree gown was paired with her usual go-to understated glam – think a side parting, glossy nude lips and a lot of gorgeous, seamless highlighter. While we’re a little bored of this look, no one pulls off nude like Alia. 6/10 for the low-effort makeup, but the saree gets a 10.

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor’s multi-coloured Sabyasachi saree was a no-brainer for this list. Especially her one-of-a-kind blue graphic liner look – a fresh breath of modern makeup on an otherwise ‘back to basics’ red carpet. 11/10, enough said.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena Kapoor Khan always glows in red. She paired her saree with a sleek bun, glossy lips and the classic Kapoor kohl, her makeup emphasised on keeping it natural – with a focus on sleek brows and a dewy, fresh base. A bridal look on the red carpet is not exactly the best way to forward, but I can get behind the silhouette – 6/10.

Medha Shankar

Medha Shankar, Bollywood’s newest debutante from ’12th Fail’ chose a sheer red saree, embodying the ‘girl next door’ vibe with a glamorous twist. The no-makeup makeup look may not be groundbreaking, but it’s a classic for a reason – paired with a small bindi and brushed-out brows, this was a simple look, an easy 7/10.

Karishma Tanna

Karishma Tanna’s white gown by Shantanu and Nikhil was a testament to quiet luxury. The design was paired with an effortless makeup look – a shimmery eye, skin-like blush and a simple, pink lip. She looked good, but there were no statements made, no heads turned. 5/10 for how boring this look was.
