Diwali may have been almost cracker-free with (relatively) fewer rockets audible in the distance, but there were some bombs that were dropped on our Instagram feeds resulting in a serious case of fashion pollution. While there were some phenomenal looks for us to get inspired from, just in time for the wedding season that's in the offing...
...there were others who didn't light up our night. Here are the worst dressed celebs this Diwali who broke our heart with their OOTNs.
From Papa Don't Preach to what looks like Papa Just Don't, Kiara's festive game went from fab to drab, courtesy the orange and pink velvet lehenga skirt with mirror-work choli and sheer dupatta by Akanksha Gajria. She completed the look with a silver potli and a statement choker necklace that's anything but statement-making. Top that with washed-out makeup and Keo Karpin hair for an I-didn't-want-to-go look for the next party.
We love everything about Diana's look from her hair to makeup, except her outfit. She wore the avatar blue razzmatazz appliquéd and embellished lehenga set by Aisha Rao. Doesn't she look like a Rangoli herself? Perhaps Halloween would be more suitable for this cosplay.
Malaika rarely disappoints with her fashion choices but when she does, she ruins it with OTT accessories. This Anamika Khanna black skirt and top co-ord set teamed with a beautiful cape went down the drain when it met that necklace by Apala by Sumit. However, the damage was contained thanks to her sleek hairdo.
Speaking of hairdos, here's an unfortunate one accompanying Sonam's printed sharara saree. The awesome-by-itself outfit was crowded and hence ruined by the busy handbag and necklace. And what is that headgear?
A short Anarkali kurti with flared sleeves and shantoon churidaar, this red and gold suit by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla doesn't look flattering. This outfit is a lesson in what incorrect hemlines (for starters) can do to you.
In this Vikram Phadnis saree in rust and silver, Ileana's look was... I'm sorry, I can't even. Let's just move on, please.
Yet another Anamika Khanna couture gone to waste this Diwali. But this time, we blame the boho choice of Huma's stylist for a traditional festive look.
Twinkle's baby pink sharara is dimming our festive mood. We would have gone for a longer hemline touching the knee-break of the sharara for starters. This goes for you, AJSK. As for her accessories, that white envelope would be the first to go followed by the coil bracelet.
The poor quality camera doesn't do justice to how unflattering the outfit is. The other Arora sister also got it wrong this year in this OTT red and gold Seema Khan lehenga. The fact that Amrita left the deep neckline bare and instead accessoried with a gold (and big) satchel isn't helping.
We understand that Nushrat is loyal to Manish Malhotra, but this co-ord set with a velvet skirt and sheer embellished top is so not Diwali. On top of this, the Bollywood actress went for a no-makeup makeup look and zero accessories. I mean, why even bother?
We love that saree by Raw Mango on Bipasha, we really do. But the painfully tight gajra-fied bun is just not going with the look, much like the jewellery set by Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas. Do you agree or do you agree?
While Kajol's previous saree look had us glued to our phone screens in awe of the actress, her Aisha Rao mustard saree didn't make the cut for us. In an ivory razzmatazz appliquéd and embellished blouse paired with pleated satin pre-draped saree, Kajol looked not her best. Maybe it's because of the jewellery that's lending her a dull look and/or her accessories.
What do you think?
