Revealed: Here’s Why You Just Can’t Stop Yourself From Watching Sooryavansham On TV

It’s been 20 years since Amitabh Bachchan’s Sooryavansham released! As millennials who grew up on Indian Television channels like Set Max, Sooryavansham was an integral part of our childhood. Every weekend, multiple versions of Amitabh Bachchan would pop up on the screen as both the father and the son.  That’s Sooryavansham for you! To be honest, I still don’t really know what the storyline is but I do remember Amitabh yelling, “Tum merey khoon ka badnuma qatra ho!”

Today, 20 years later, we have finally been blessed with an answer to why this movie is always on TV. Recently, Mr. Bachchan himself answered this billion dollar question with a re-tweet. Are you ready? Here you go:

Big B shared this tweet on his profile with the caption, “Yes indeed.” The movie has over 93 million views on national television. In fact, it is actually quite profitable for channels to play it on repeat.

So, technically, it’s just our fault for loving this movie way too much!

The film’s producer, Karan Johar, recently announced on Instagram that the release date of Brahmastra has been pushed to 2020. Earlier, it was said to release on 20th December 2019.
