Do you know what a watermelon rind is? Yes, it's that firm white part of the fruit you leave behind after you eat or scoop out the watermelon's bright pink flesh. Compared to the juicy sweet watermelon flesh, the rind is mildly sweet. Most of us don't think twice before chucking it into the bin. If you're a skincare enthusiast who likes experimenting with DIYs from your kitchen, then perhaps, a humble watermelon rind can be of great use to you.
When it comes to skincare DIYs, the watermelon rind is a pretty underrated ingredient. Not only does it have a cooling effect on the skin, but it also improves the texture of the skin by making it smooth, soft and radiant. Here's how to use it to your advantage!
Step 1: After scooping the pink flesh from the watermelon, you'll be left with the watermelon rind.
Step 2: Cut the rind into fine pieces and toss them into the blender with 1/4 cup of water.
Step 3: Once it becomes a thick paste, pour it into an ice tray and leave it in the freezer for an hour or two.
Step 4: Remove the chilled cubes and gently rub all over your face and neck.
No of times: Once every day.
The watermelon rind cubes will make your skin feel fresh and give your complexion a healthy, soft glow. Acne-prone skin and sensitive skin benefit the most from it because it's soothing and gentle on the skin. The best part of this recipe is that it only requires two ingredients - water and watermelon rind. Both these ingredients are inexpensive and abundantly available in our country.
