Virat & Anushka Stole The Show At The Indian Sports Honours & How!

The inaugural edition of Indian Sports Honours was held on Saturday, November 11, at Mumbai and it was the initiative of Virat Kohli and Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG to honour sportspersons from various fields, something, would you believe it, that hasn’t been a trend up until now!

Present for the event were sportspersons like Saina Nehwal, Mahesh Bhupathi, PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, Pullela Gopichand, Sania Mirza, Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin. Bollywood stars like Aamir Khan, Siddharth Malhotra, Malaika Arora Khan, Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma had also shown up in support.

“As cricketers we don’t get many awards but it always feels special when you get nominated or you get an award. So it always feels special.” Hardik Pandya said, which is true! Kedhar Jadhav added “What does an award mean for a player? Great recognition of whatever you have done in last year. It always a boost to perform better and get inspired.”

Actor Sidharth Malhotra, who was there to support the sportspersons who’ve been making the country proud added “Sports is very important, anyone can play a sport, everyone should play a sport and today we are honouring all the sports person and hats off to Virat and team for having these awards. And I am just here to see who wins and have many more award function. Growing up in Delhi, I have played many sports like football and basketball. I think a lot has to be done, again today’s event makes it very important because they are promoting other sports as well apart from cricket. So I think, it’s a great initiative and I am very excited to be a part of the award function”.

But last night, the show was stolen by Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli. Both dressed in suits, they looked utterly perfect as a couple. While he was not in contention for any award, the captain of the Indian Cricket team definitely won our hearts for walking in hand in hand with his ladylove, Anushka!

It’s so heartening to see India move from one-sports country to becoming a country that celebrates all it’s players and sportspersons!
