In an interaction with a leading daily, producer Shashank Khaitan said, "Karan Johar loved it. Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship is based on a true incident that took place in Bombay. The shooting is complete. The post-production is underway and the film will open in cinemas on November 15 this year. The intent is to create a series. We’re looking at making more authentic films, even horror comedies. Bhanu and I have discussed a few ideas. It's an exciting time to take the franchise ahead."
Karan Johar, in an interview with a leading daily, revealed, "Shashank introduced me to Bhanu, who truly fascinated me. He was extremely passionate about the horror genre and wanted to direct this particular brand of cinema. Horror is a massively successful genre worldwide and I was excited to begin Dharma's first franchise. Bhoot is the first part of our horror franchise and we are beginning our journey with the exceptionally talented Vicky Kaushal."
Not many know that Vicky fractured his cheekbones about two months ago while shooting for Bhoot. According to a report in a leading daily, Vicky got 13 stitches after a door fell on him. The scene was being shot on an unused ship by the sea in the town of Alang, where the actor sustained his injury.
