Hello Hi Chhodiye, How’s The Josh Boliye! Vicky Kaushal Talks About The Effect Of Uri

After Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal has undisputedly become the national crush. The movie looked like just another war film to me when the trailer released and cut to today, I am game for watching it for the third time.

Vicky proved his acting prowess in the film and now that I think about it, I can’t imagine someone else playing the role of Major Vihan Shergill. The conviction in his eyes, the rumble in his voice and his hunger for revenge – had me floored. The film catapulted into the 200-crore club and Vicky received immense appreciation for his performance. It is still roaring at the box office!

The film didn’t have the cookie-cutter Bollywood plotline where the hero fights the villain, gets the girl and saves the day. So, its success came as a shock to the team as well. In fact, in a recent interview with a daily, Vicky spoke about how the response has been. The actor said, “Yes, we also didn’t expect this to happen. Toh hamare liye bhi utni hi hairani waali baat hai jitni baaki sabke liye hai. Of course, good business and all is a great morale booster for everybody associated with the film. But what gives us maximum happiness is the way people have resonated with the emotion of the film.”

Interestingly, the warcry “How’s The Josh?” stuck with the audiences and how. Talking about the same, Vicky said, “You know, main toh ab ginti bhi bhul chuka hoon. It’s like, instead of saying hi or hello, people only say, ‘How’s the josh.’”

Clearly, everyone’s josh is super high ever since they’ve watched the film.

Talking more about the film, Vicky said, “Our idea was to give tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. But the way audiences have resonated with the emotion of patriotism, valour and sacrifices of our armed forces has been amazing. That’s the biggest takeaway for us, ki log theatres mein taaliyaan bajaa rahein hai, flags lekar jaa rahein hai. Also, the kind of emotions and messages we are getting from our armed forces, woh hamare liye bahut special hai. It’s something we will never forget and are going to cherish forever.”

On the work front, Vicky has been roped in for two films – Karan Johar’s period drama Takht and freedom fighter Udham Singh’s biopic which will be directed by Shoojit Sircar.
