Veteran Bollywood actor and writer Kader Khan passed away on December 31, 2018, at the age of 81 in Canada. His son Sarfaraz confirmed the news and shared that the last rites will take place in the country.
In a statement, he said, “My dad has left us. He passed away on December 31 at 6 pm as per Canadian time due to prolonged illness. He slipped into coma in the afternoon. He was in the hospital for 16-17 weeks.”
He further told PTI, “The last rites will be performed here in Canada only. We have our entire family here and we live here so we are doing it. We are thankful to everyone for their blessings and prayers.”
His son, Sarfaraz, earlier dismissed the news of his demise but a day after, it was confirmed by him.
Kader Khan was transferred to a regular ventilator to BiPAP ventilator as he had developed breathing issues. As per the reports, he was suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative disease. that causes loss of balance, causes difficulty in walking and dementia.
Kader Khan was born in Kabul and he made his acting debut with Rajesh Khanna in Daag in 1973. He was known for his roles alongside Govinda in David Dhawan entertainers like Aunty No 1, Hero No 1 and so on. He had written dialogues for over 250 films and has been featured in over 300 films. The actor and screenwriter was at the peak of his career in the 1980s-90s.
