Oh, The Small Joys Of Life: Twitterati Talk About Everyday Things That Make Them Happy

Say what you may but if you have been fortunate enough to have a roof over your head and food in your plate then you must have also realised that there’s been a silver lining to the coronavirus pandemic. If you think about it, the lockdown period has actually given us time to slow down, to reflect, and restructure our lives.

While being an exercise in human resilience, it has taught us the value of small and, what we might have earlier considered, inconsequential things. There are so many of us who learned and did the kind of chores during the lockdown, that we wouldn’t have otherwise. And before rueing all of it, we also need to understand how we have become more independent and self-reliant in the past 6 months or so.

I for one have learned to maintain my own home garden and to cook some amazing recipes shared by my mom. In fact, the lockdown also gave me the time to indulge in self-care–I now have dedicated yoga routine and I can’t even begin to tell how much peace the exercise has brought me. Plus, the joys of spending time with the family can’t be overlooked either. I have been at my home since March this year, and it’s after a full decade that I got to spend this much time at home.

That said, as I talk to my friends and acquaintances, this seems to have been the general consensus. Everyone has learned something new during the pandemic. To cut long things short, the pandemic has certainly made us more cognizant of the small joy of life. From homemade food to spending time with the family, we have all found a small albeit fulfilling reason to celebrate these small joys. Also, if that hasn’t been the case with you then here’s news–there’s never an opportunity better than the tough days to be grateful for all the little things that make life worth living.
