Ever since the makers of the famous medical drama series, Sanjivani, announced the second season of the serial, fans have been eagerly waiting for their favourite doctors to make a comeback on television. The first trailer of the show introduced the new cast with the iconic whistle tune (from Dill Mill Gayye) in the background.
Now, the makers of the show dropped the second trailer of Sanjivani 2 and it looks power-packed with a promising storyline and a mix of both the old as well as the new cast members. Watch the trailer here before we get into what we think is cooking on the show.
The trailer begins with Mohnish Bahl (who will again be playing the role of Dr. Shashank) entering the ‘best hospital’ and introducing his ‘kaabil’ doctors. We also meet Dr. Sid (played by Namit Khanna), an ‘over-smart’ but a kind doctor who apparently has a soft corner for people in need. Then the camera zooms into Dr. Ishani (played by Surbhi Chandna) who is a stickler for rules and has a love-hate relationship with Sid. Ding ding ding! Does this plot seem a little familiar? Isn’t this love story similar to Armaan and Ridhima’s, the lead characters in Dill Mill Gayye? Well, the pyaar mein nonk-jhonk angle is always fun to watch, isn’t it?
Talking about the lead actors of the show, producer Siddharth Malhotra revealed in an interview earlier that he saw freshness in the pairing of Surbhi Chandna and Namit Khanna. “When I did their test together, I saw freshness in them. Today, it takes hardly any time for stagnation to step in and for the same boredom to step in. With them, I saw energy which hopefully the people will connect to. When we talk about iconic couples, it is the characters and energy that the youth look out for. I am confident about them,” he said.
Dr. Juhi aka Gurdeep Kohli has a blink-and-miss appearance in the trailer. But we are super excited to see her again! We also spot Rohit Roy and Sayantani Ghosh in the trailer, who we think, are senior doctors just like Dr. Juhi. Feels good to see a few known faces, doesn’t it?
The cast has been sharing a lot of behind-the-scenes videos on Instagram. From Sayantani Ghosh teaching Bengali to her co-actors to Surbhi Chandna challenging her friends to take the Sanjivani whistle challenge, the actors can be seen bonding and having fun on the sets of Sanjivani 2.
Seventeen years after the first instalment of the show, Sanjivani 2 will premier on Star Plus on August 12, 2019.
