Salman Khan is all set to return to the big screen with Bharat, and the film's teaser dropped today.
According to the one-and-a-half minute teaser, Salman's character shares his name with the movie and the country. Salman's narration in the background explains how his father named him after the newly-formed India, and hence caste, creed, religion or even a surname hold no importance to him.
Chaos marks the powerful opening visual, where we see a large crowd gathered to leave Mirpur, Pakistan for India on a steam locomotive. While the powerful scene certainly intrigued us...the rest of the trailer left us very, very confused.
The scene of young Salman at Mirpur is followed by...his character escaping a mining accident, then as a naval officer on a ship, followed by him riding a motorcycle through a fire ring, and later as an ageing boxer. And all this is apparently supposed to depict the "journey of a man and a nation together."
It is interesting to note that the film's female lead, Katrina Kaif, is missing from the teaser altogether. The film was adapted from Korean war drama An Ode To My Father after Salman's brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri bought the rights.
Slated for an Eid release, let's hope the movie makes more sense than the teaser lets on!
