The evening was dedicated to Sridevi, with a special screening of anecdotes, memories and visual footage of her best performances in the presence of filmmakers from across the world. The global icon started working at the age of four and had acted in more than 300 films in different languages.
Recently, Sridevi was also posthumously awarded the National Film Award Best Actress category for her last Hindi film Mom. The 90th Academy Awards ceremony also honoured the actress in their ‘Memoriam’ section.
We've tremendous love and respect for the Kapoor family and it's amazing that Sridevi's work, which is keeping her alive in our memories, is being honoured. But we can't help wondering why didn't Sonam Kapoor collect Sridevi's award? Boney Kapoor and daughters Khushi and Janhvi were supposed to be there but they couldn't make it to Cannes. However, Sonam was right there - posing on the red carpet. It would have been a sweet gesture had she taken some time out to receive the award. We suspect it was a work commitment that kept her from it since she has started promoting her upcoming movie, Veere Di Wedding.
Nevertheless, we extend our congratulations to the family!
