See Pics: Sonali Bendre Celebrates An ‘Unconventional’ Diwali With Family In New York

An epitome of strength, a paragon of patience and a quintessence of bravery – Sonali Bendre is an inspiration. The actress has been battling uterine cancer with a smile on her face and she has been motivating women all across the globe by documenting her journey on Instagram.

The Hum Saath-Saath Hain actress shared her diagnosis with her Insta-Fam in July with a post and said that she is taking this battle head-on. She is currently receiving treatment in New York and has kept her fans apprised with regular posts about her progress. In one of the posts, she wrote about her son, Ranveer, and how he reacted to the news. In another, she discussed her vanity after losing her hair and shared pictures of her new look.

And who can forget her infectious smile as she posed for a picture with Neetu Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra at latter’s bridal shower at Tiffany and Co?

While Bollywood has been celebrating Diwali in full swing, Sonali is away from all the glam and glitz, undergoing treatment in New York. But being away from home can’t come in her way of celebrating the festival of lights, right?

Sonali took to Instagram to share a series of pictures of her ‘unconventional’ Diwali with husband Goldie Behl and son Ranveer Behl. She wrote a beautiful caption that read, “Diwali in New York happens much later than in Mumbai… Hence the late wish! It was quite an unconventional one… We didn’t have Indian clothes, we had a small puja… But it was all heart.
Happy Diwali everyone! May this year bring you good health, wealth and prosperity… Hope you celebrated this festival with your family and friends, and hope you cherish every moment of happiness with them!”

In one of the photos, Sonali is seen lighting a candle and doing the pooja with her family.

In September, Sonali had shared pictures of her family celebrating Ganpati in an emotional post saying she was missing the celebrations. This year has been tough on the family, but they have never stopped being positive.

We wish you and your family a very Happy Diwali, Sonali.
