There's a new K-Beauty skincare trend that's spreading like wildfire on the internet, and you'd feel super FOMO if you didn't give it a shot! Not to worry, it's not rocket science. To ace this K-Beauty trend, all you need is a single ingredient - petroleum jelly. The main reason why the world is going gaga about 'slugging' is that it promises dewy and glass-like skin. So how does it work? Read on to find out!
Did you know that slugging isn't a new discovery? It's been around for a while. Our ancestors have probably been practising this skincare trend for years. It involves slathering a generous amount of petroleum jelly on the skin and evenly spreading it all over the face just before going to bed. You will wake up in the morning to soft, smooth and moisturised skin.
The reason why petroleum jelly works wonders for the skin is that it has the superpower of locking in moisture. It helps to repair damaged skin and provides relief to extremely dry skin and eczema. Not to mention, that it also keeps the wrinkles and fine lines at bay.
For starters, it's dirt cheap. You can save plenty of money and petroleum jelly as a product is easily accessible in the market. The only thing you need to make a note of is that petroleum jelly does not hydrate or moisturise the skin in any way. All it does is that it prevents moisture from escaping the skin. Which means you should not replace your face oils, moisturiser and serums with petroleum jelly, but include it into your skincare routine.
Since petroleum jelly locks in moisture on your skin, make sure that your face is clean and free from dirt or makeup residue. As awesome as this K-Beauty trend sounds like, it doesn't work well with all skin types. Applying petroleum jelly to oily or acne-prone skin will clog the pores and lead to breakouts. On the contrary, this skincare trend is perfect for dry, normal and combination skin types.
But if you struggle with extreme dryness and flaky skin in winter, you can give it a shot!
