Somewhere You Have To Embrace It: Shraddha Kapoor Opens Up About Her Struggle With Anxiety

Shraddha Kapoor, the actress who was last seen in Chhichhore opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, in a recent interview, opened up about her struggle with her mental health. Shraddha, who made her debut in Bollywood with the hit film, Love Ka The End in 2011, spoke about how it took time for her to diagnose her physical symptoms, not knowing that anxiety was the reason behind them.

“I didn’t even know what was anxiety,” Shraddha told an entertainment website. “We didn’t know it since a very long time. It was just after Aashiqui where I had these physical manifestation of anxiety. There’s this pain happening where there was no physiological diagnosis. We got so many tests done but there was nothing wrong with me in the doctor’s report. It’s bizarre because I kept thinking why I was getting that pain. Then I kept asking myself why that is happening.”

The actress went on to reveal that it took her time to embrace her anxiety with love, “Today, it’s something that I still deal with but it has become so much better than what it was. Also, somewhere you have to embrace it. You have to accept it as part of yourself and approach it with a lot of love. That made a big difference. Whether you have anxiety or not, you always need to understand who you are or what you stand for.”

Shraddha Kapoor, who will next be seen in Street Dancer alongside Varun Dhawan, isn’t the first actress to find the courage to speak about her mental health. Several Bollywood actress like Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Ileana D’Cruz have also spoken up about depression and anxiety. Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone also spoke about her anxiety and depression at length, leading to the start of her Live Love Laugh Foundation, which aims at spreading awareness about mental health.
