19 December 2019 will be remembered as the day when citizens across the nation held protests against the much controversial CAA. Nobody expected to witness the national capital in a state like this- from traffic snarls, mobile services shut down to consecutive detentions- Delhi/NCR is facing the brunt of the protests. But amid the mayhem and panic, there have been certain instances that have revived our faith in humanity- making us believe that solidarity is and always will be a strong sentiment across our motherland, India.
Days after videos of police brutality went viral on social media, another set of pictures showing a completely different side of the Delhi police made their way online. The cops can be seen offering refreshments at Surajmal stadium to protesters who were detained.

Hindus and Sikhs form a human-chain as Muslims pray in #JamiaMilliaIslamia. This is our University, our country🇮🇳
Let's stand united. Sending warmth to our brothers and sisters from every religion. #IndiaAgainstCAApic.twitter.com/imyEtKzGeU
This one's straight out of the epicentre of the protests, Jamia Milia Islamia University. In the video that is doing the rounds on the Internet, one can see Hindus and Sikhs coming together to shield Muslims reading namaz. They proved what India truly stands for - Unity in diversity.
Not all protesters are against the cops, not all policemen are the same. Another act of kindness at Jantar Mantar has caught our attention today. In this picture clicked by a journalist, one can see a female protester handing over a red rose to the cop standing beside her. The heartwarming picture was widely shared on social media.
In the cold nights of Delhi, Sikhs of @Khalsa_Aid are providing hot tea, chai langar to students and citizens protesting at the India Gate.#CAAProtests #CAB #Modi_Divider_In_Chief pic.twitter.com/BeNHSPeTxt#CAAProtests— Hanief Manzoor Dar (@haniefdar) December 17, 2019
The protests have been going on for a couple of days now, and this humanitarian act is from last night when our Sikh brothers from Khalsa aid were seen distributing chai to all the protesters present at India Gate.
While the situation isn't peaceful at all and there is widespread unrest, it is indeed quite encouraging to see these acts that restore our faith in humanity. There is hope, after all!
