It doesn’t come as a surprise when we hear rumours about star kids following the footsteps of their parents into the glamorous world of Bollywood. While most of them decide to carry forward a similar legacy, a few also take the road less travelled. With the launch of actors like Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday, the gates of B-town seem to have recently opened to another celeb kid. Daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and designer Maheep Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor is all set to make her Bollywood debut.
Unlike our popular assumption, Shanaya will not be stepping in as the lead actress of a movie but rather as an assistant director in Bollywood. She would be assisting Bollywood director Sharan Sharma with the Gunjan Saxena biopic starring her cousin sister Janhvi Kapoor. The team will be shooting in Lucknow for the next two weeks before moving to other locations. While Shanaya has made up her mind about being an actress, her parents, Sanjay and Maheep wanted her to experience life behind the scenes first. Recently, proud parents also took to Instagram to wish their daughter good luck for her new journey.

Although daddy Sanjay had often expressed in interviews his daughter’s desire to make a career in Bollywood, he never specified if she wanted to be an actress. On being asked about her debut a few months ago, he admitted, “Honestly, I really don’t know when that will happen. She has just finished her 12th standard and she’s working towards it. But she hasn’t signed anything till now; she’s too young. Hopefully, soon enough.” Well, we guess the time has finally arrived.

Shanaya counts Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan and Chunky Panday’s daughter Ananya Panday among her closest friends and is often seen spending a lot of time with them. While Ananya’s Bollywood debut film Student Of The Year 2 is all set to release on 10th May this year, Suhana recently starred in a play in London and aspires to be an actress as well.

However, Shanaya is not the first one to make a debut in Bollywood through directorial roles. In fact, her cousins Sonam Kapoor Ahuja (daughter of Anil Kapoor) and Arjun Kapoor (son of Boney Kapoor) did the same before they began starring in movies. While Sonam worked as an assistant director in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black before she was seen in Saawariya, Arjun assisted Bollywood producer Nikhil Advani in Kal Ho Naa Ho and Salaam-e-Ishq before his debut with Ishaqzaade.
