Selena Gomez Opened Up For The First Time Post Surgery & I Cried So Hard!

I knew Selena Gomez as that chirpy little girl from Wizards of Waverly Place before she went on to not keeping her hands to herself! So, when the news of her suffering through Lupus came out, of course, my heart was breaking into pieces!

Though she has kept her lips sealed about her journey of recovery; except for one Instagram post thanking her friend, Francia Raisa, for donating her a kidney, Selena finally took the time to address the issue with all the seriousness and feels it needs.

I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made. At the Today Show on NBC, both Selena and Francia got chatty about how they came to the decision of donating a kidney and how it has absolutely changed both their lives.

On being asked if Selena feels like Francia saved her life, she promptly replied “Because she did. That’s it.”

In between tears, Gomez hoped that her journey would inspire other people and, if anything, their story is incredible. It’s almost like watching a movie about life, death and friendship. Only, it’s better because this is as real as it gets. Watch the full interview below and make sure you have some tissues at the ready!
