The master couturier unveiled a new collection exclusively on Instagram last night- his Spring Summer 2019, to be precise and the first feeling was that of utter speechlessness. “Easy is the zeitgeist of complex times”, read a quote on the designer’s official page, right before the unveiling. Titled Fiza, which translates into a light breeze, the new collection was everything you would expect offerings from Sabyasachi to be.
A diverse colour palette featuring hues of ivory, gold, red and dusty pink made an appearance, as did light pastels, vivid hues of yellow and orange, faded metallics, and much more. From a one-shoulder breezy toga and embroidered caftan to densely crafted lehengas and dainty veils, there was something for everyone. Referring to it as ‘tradition redefined with modern whimsy’, the designer made sure that the many pictures portrayed just that.
The new age bride and her group could be seen donning whimsical prints, hand-crushed sarees and distinct silhouettes, along with the fun element of sunglasses with couture. And it’s not just the women who were the focus of Sabyasachi’s Fiza. Men too could be seen in outfits ranging from the traditional ivory wedding sherwani to bright kurtas in pink and yellow.
One could not miss the jewellery. Uncut diamonds, yellow sapphires, woven clusters of pearls and handcrafted elements could be seen in the opulent chokers, earrings, necklaces, bangles and more paired with the couture.
