Last year belonged to Ranveer Singh. I can't remember a single month where the newly hitched actor didn't make it to the news. With all the movies such as Padmaavat, Simmba raking in crores at the Box Office, with all the Best Actor Awards he is taking home for his challenging AF role as Sultan Alauddin Khilji, and of course, DeepVeer ki shaadi at Lake Como, Italy; in fact, ever since his debut in Bollywood with Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer has been a favourite. Whether for his acting skills, his smoldering hot looks or his head-turning outfits, we have seen all shades of Baba.
And today, we came across yet another one which is much more intense and much more real than all his roles combined. Recently, in a video interview with India TV, Ranveer got so emotional that he had to stop mid-interview as he couldn't control his tears. In this Ranveer appreciation interview, which revolved around his success as a Hindi film star, Ranveer talked about living his dream and all the "hazards of the profession" that come with it.
Playing Khilji was extremely tough for him, he says, but as he recalls what his casting director, Shanoo Sharma, had to say about his performance as Bajirao, "Main tujhe itne saal se jaanti hun... Jab main screen dekh rahi thi..." (I've known you for so many years now. When I was watching you on screen...) is all he could get out of himself. Ranveer felt a lump in his throat and broke into tears thinking about her reaction to his performance.
Watch the whole interview here and find out the tiniest details about your favourite actor that you probably didn't know:
In his eight-year-long career, Ranveer has done 11 films. If there's anything I take from this 25-minute long video, it is a new found respect for all the actors - successful or struggling - who often lose themselves to become one with the script.
Ranveer is all set for his first release of the year, Gully Boy, which is inspired by the life of underground rappers, Vivian Fernandes, known as Divine and Naved Shaikh, known as Naezy, who got famous overnight after their hit song 'Mere Gully Main'. Social media went gaga over the song and it was shared by various celebrities including Ranveer Singh who even rapped Divine's song at the Raazi screening. February can't come sooner.
