Was This Uncut Scene From Bajirao Mastani The Beginning Of Ranveer’s Khilji?

Ranveer Singh’s latest film, Padmaavat might have received mixed reviews at the box office but his portrayal of Alauddin Khilji has charmed the coldest hearts. His career graph took an intense turn when he played Bajirao in 2015, and three years later, with Khilji, Ranveer is back on the intensity chart. With the insanity that drips out of his character in Padmaavat, Ranveer’s fear of playing a man who personifies madness seems justified. “I read this part and I know where I’ll have to go with it. And I feel like it’ll turn me crazy, I’ll lose myself,” said the actor in an interview while discussing his script reading sessions with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. If you haven’t had a chance to catch his awestriking performance at the theatre yet, watch a glimpse of his brilliance in this song from the movie.

“My brain had turned into mush, my body into pulp. When I was shooting Khalibali, I couldn’t feel my legs,” said Ranveer about shooting 40 days at a stretch, in isolation in order to stay true to the character of Khilji. And wow, has it been worth it! We might have to agree with Ranveer’s friend on this, “Gabbar, Mogambo, and ab Khilji,” the best negative performances of Bollywood have some serious competition.

But of course, this isn’t the first time Ranveer has let out his inner demons. A deleted scene from Bajirao Mastani was recently released and it will leave you gasping for air!

And of course, we aren’t the only people applauding Ranveer’s journey from Bittoo Sharma to Alauddin Khilji. Amitabh Bachchan was so moved by his performance that he decided to send Ranveer a handwritten note praising him. And like every Bollywood fan ever, Ranveer just couldn’t keep calm!
