On June 14, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment and his death was ruled as suicide. It’s been almost three months but the media circus around the tragedy is at its peak. Recently, Sushant Singh’s girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau for the alleged procurement of drugs. While the Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) is still investigating the case, several Bollywood celebrities have condemned the harsh media trial that Rhea is being subjected to. The latest one to join the bandwagon is actress Radhika Madan.

A day after Rhea’s arrest, the hashtag #JusticeForRhea was trending on social media and several celebrities like Vidya Balan, Shibani Dandekar, Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap came out in Rhea’s support. And now, Radhika Madan took to her Instagram handle and explained why it is important to speak up for Rhea.
The Angrezi Medium actress re-shared an Insta post on her feed that spoke about how supporting Rhea does not mean disrespecting Sushant in any way. The post read, “When we speak up for Rhea, we’re not disrespecting SSR. We’re not undermining SSR’s right to get justice. We’re NOT asking to stop the investigation about Rhea’s involvement. We’re only upholding the fact that like everyone else she deserves a shot at fair trial.”
Asserting that Rhea is innocent until proven guilty, it said, “We’re only against the godi media trials and hounding she is being subjected to even before the investigation agencies have completed their work.”

Captioning her post, Radhika wrote that it breaks her heart seeing the inhuman treatment that Rhea is being subjected to. “Sushant was the one who I looked up to while I was transitioning from Television to Movies. He was the one who inspired me to take that step and it breaks my heart when I think of him. Of course, I want Justice for him but it also breaks my heart to see another person being treated so inhumanely when she has not even been convicted yet.”
On the day of Rhea’s arrest, Sushant’s ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande blamed Rhea for allowing Sushant, a “depressed man” to consume drugs. What started as an investigation into Sushant’s suicide has been getting murkier by the day. Let’s hope that Rhea gets a fair trial soon.
