Can you imagine Radhika Apte playing the Bengali beauty Ashima Roy in Vicky Donor, instead of Yami Gautam? Well, that’s exactly what would have happened if Radhika Apte hadn’t lost out on the role due to her weight.
Surprised, aren’t you? Radhika Apte appeared on a chat show on Colors Infinity recently and revealed that she was approached for the film by the makers but was rejected for being "overweight by a few kilos.”
Radhika spoke about how she was initially brought onboard and later rejected. The Lust Stories actor said, “I had gone on a holiday for a month, drank a lot of beer, ate loads of food. I told them that I'll come back and lose it. But they did not want to take a chance.”
She further added that after losing out on the role in Vicky Donor, she became very conscious about her diet. She said, "I don't get affected by rejection at work, but the weight thing really messed with my head."
Vicky Donor has been a special film for Ayushmann Khurrana. But did you know that he wasn’t the first choice for the film either?
A few years back in an interview with a leading daily, the actor had spoken about how other actors were being considered for the role. When he got the film, it became his ‘ticket to Bollywood’. He said, “Vicky Donor was my ticket to tinsel town. My work on Just Dance got me noticed by Shoojit Sircar. I didn’t have to audition for this role; the script just fell into my lap. Not that I was their first choice; Vivek Oberoi wanted to produce and act in Vicky Donor, and they had almost signed him up, but for some reason, Ronnie Screwvala, the producer, changed his mind. The role was then offered to Sharman Joshi, who politely declined it. That’s when the film came to me.”
Ayushmann made his debut with Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor and the film is still a fan favourite.
While Radhika will be next seen in Raat Akeli Hai opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ayushmann is gearing up for the release of Article 15, where he plays a cop who takes on the system while fighting against discrimination. The movie also stars Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub in prominent roles. It is slated to release on June 28, 2019.
