When it comes to climbing the success ladder with panache on an international platform, nobody quite slays it like our very own desi girl, Priyanka Chopra. After having rubbed shoulders with Hollywood stars like Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in the hit movie ‘Baywatch’, and reprising her role as FBI agent Alex Parrish in American television drama thriller series Quantico on ABC for three seasons, Priyanka Chopra is, undoubtedly, one of the most successful Indian actresses in the film industry today.
Which is why, perhaps, it’s no surprise that the star has reportedly been offered a whopping Rs 4-5 crores for a 5-minute performance at an award show that’s going to be held in Mumbai on December 19.
Yep, that does come up to being paid one crore per minute, if you - like me - are having trouble wrapping your head around the number of zeroes in that figure.
According to a report by Mid-Day, her long absence from performing at award shows and her ever-growing popularity on the global platform is the primary reason for her ‘record-breaking fee’ being offered to perform at the show.
"Priyanka's act will be about five minutes long. Since she is so much in demand, the organisers did not negotiate on the price her team quoted, despite it coming to almost a-crore-a-minute," a source has said to the tabloid.
Not to say that PC will be the only actress performing at the event, of course. Bollywood biggies such as Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Bhumi Pednekar, Katrina Kaif, and even Sidharth Malhotra, are also slated to perform at the same awards’ function. But with the kind of moolah involved, we’re guessing PC’s performance is going to be the highlight of the event.
The source added, “Since Priyanka's last performance was at the Producers Guild Awards in 2016, the team has planned a routine that will be the highlight of this award season. She will be dancing to a medley of her chartbusters”.
Priyanka Chopra has never been one to shy away from taking bold steps in the industry and has even ventured into production, become the Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, tried her hand at singing, and of course, nailed all her roles in both Hollywood and Bollywood movies and American television. It certainly looks like she’s not one to rest on her laurels anytime soon, and aren't we glad!
Shine on, PC!
