Priyanka Chopra Jonas is undoubtedly a global icon who most of us follow. From teenagers who are excited about her voice-over in Frozen 2 (Hindi), to women who look up to her as their role model, PC has become a sensation across the world. Not to forget, the actor has over 46 million followers on Instagram alone. This figure is indication enough to help us determine how popular she is among the masses. And the latest feather in her cap? Priyanka is now the most searched Indian celebrity in the world, according to a recent study conducted by SEMrush, a US-based agency.
SEMrush conducted a global study on the popularity of Indian actors across boundaries for the period of October 2018 to October 2019. The data revealed that Priyanka’s name was searched for about 2.74 million times in October 2019 followed by Salman Khan with 1.83 million searches (he has never exceeded 2.74 million searches in a single month). In fact, PC was searched 13.6 million times in December 2018 alone and is leading the race by a considerable margin with a monthly search volume of more than 4.2 million.
The study is divided into two sections for male and female actors. While Salman Khan tops the list of being the most searched male Indian celebrity in the entertainment category, Priyanka not only ranks first in the female section but in the Indian celebrity category altogether. Number two and number three in the male actor segment are Amrish Puri and Shah Rukh Khan respectively with an average search of 1.7 million times each. PC, on the other hand, is followed by Sunny Leone and Deepika Padukone with 3 million and 1.8 million searches respectively.
Other prominent names on the list were Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Imran Khan, Ranveer Singh and Amitabh Bachchan.

What is interesting to note here is that both Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra were supposed to be acting together in Bharat last year but that did not happen, and Katrina Kaif was later cast as the female lead. While PC made headlines by marrying Nick Jonas on December 1 last year, Salman continued to be the most intriguing Indian actor, courtesy the undying speculations about his wedding and the multiple court cases against him.
As far as being searched is concerned, nothing will stop Priyanka from continuing to feature on top of the list as she is all set to celebrate her first wedding anniversary with Nick in the next ten days. Also, she is filming the much-anticipated Netflix film The White Tiger. You go, girl!
