After going viral with just a wink (I'm sorry, a slow-motion wink), Priya Prakash Varrier is all set for her Bollywood debut with a suspense-thriller called, Sridevi Bungalow. Not more than two days ago, the film's trailer was released and looks like it is already in legal trouble.
In this film, Priya is playing the role of a successful but lonely actress named Sreedevi (we fail to understand why is the movie's title Sridevi with an 'i' when the character's name is Sreedevi with double E's - you will see). Having seen the one and a half minute long trailer, we, Boney Kapoor and all the other 300k viewers can't help but think if the film is based on late actress Sridevi who passed away last year in February. Result: a legal notice from Boney Kapoor, Sridevi's husband.

The trailer ends with a shot of Priya's still feet in the bathtub symbolising how she takes her own life (or does she?) in her big, beautiful but empty bungalow. You would understand why the film is getting so much flak, right? It's making a mockery of the late actress's tragic death.
First of all, the trailer is all over the place (read the UK). Majority of the movie has Priya either running, hair flipping or crying in slow-motion. The attempt to showcase how she's alone is evident but why - is not.
Director Prasanth Mambully said, "We received a legal notice from Mr Boney Kapoor last week. And we will face it. My film is a suspense thriller. I told him (Boney Kapoor) that Sridevi is a common name. My film's character also happens to be an actress. We will face it (the legal case)." In fact, Priya also refused to comment on the allegations of the film being based on the life of Sridevi.
